Carlos Vasconsellos

His practice focuses on advice to local and multinational companies on a broad range of corporate and commercial matters.

Carlos Vasconsellos is a partner at FERRERE, specializing in cross-border mergers and acquisitions, foreign direct investment, infrastructure projects and complex financing transactions. He regularly leads matters for multinational companies, international investors, sponsors and project developers, as well as lenders and borrowers investing or conducting business in Paraguay.

Carlos advises on inbound and cross-border acquisitions, divestments, joint ventures and corporate reorganizations. He leads transactions throughout the investment lifecycle, including market-entry and transaction structuring, due diligence, negotiation and drafting of transaction documents, closing and post-closing implementation. His experience spans agribusiness and forestry, financial services, logistics, energy and renewable energy, infrastructure, manufacturing and construction-related industries.

Carlos has particular experience in project and infrastructure finance. He advises sponsors, project companies and capital providers on public-private partnerships, turnkey projects, concession and construction arrangements, structured and syndicated financings, multilateral lending and security packages. His recent work includes leading Paraguayan-law advice on major renewable-energy and transport-infrastructure projects, first-of-their-kind securitization structures and significant inbound equity investments. His work covers projects from initial structuring and tender preparation through project implementation and financing.  

Before joining FERRERE as partner, Carlos worked at the New York and Miami offices of Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP. He graduated summa cum laude in Law and qualified as a Notary Public at Universidad Católica Nuestra Señora de la Asunción. He also holds an LL.M. cum laude from Harvard Law School and an MBA with honors from IE Business School, and pursued further studies at Duke University and Universidad de Buenos Aires.
