Carlos Vasconsellos is a partner at the FERRERE Paraguay office. His practice focuses on advice to local and multinational companies on a broad range of corporate and commercial matters, including foreign investments, complex business contracts, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate transactions. Carlos also assists project developers, lenders and borrowers on project and infrastructure financings, public-private partnership tender processes, and turnkey projects. He also has broad experience in international corporate finance, including structured, syndicated, bilateral and multilateral transactions.

Before joining FERRERE, Carlos was an associate at the New York and Miami offices of Hughes Hubbard & Reed, LLP, where he represented banks and companies in complex multi-jurisdiction financial transactions. Among others, he represented  Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, Citibank N.A. Banco Itau S.A., Bank of America N.A., Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi, BNP Paribas, HSBC and Sumitomo Mitsui Bank.

Carlos has also participated in a variety of M&A transactions in Latin America, involving countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Uruguay. He advised the Central Bank of Paraguay regarding its foreign reserves and in connection with a currency exchange framework agreement with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), to allow the IFC to issue credits to the Paraguayan private sector in local currency. He also participated in numerous aircraft financings for clients such as  Bank of America and General Electric. Previously, Carlos practiced bankruptcy law, representing two local banks in insolvency proceedings in Paraguay.
