FERRERE

About FERRERE

FERRERE is the only multi-jurisdictional purely South American law firm. It has 150 attorneys in Bolivia, Paraguay and Uruguay, who provide rapid and personalized service, geared to strengthening the profitability of its clients’ businesses.

FERRERE is exceptional in the jurisdictions in which it operates. It is a fully merit-based organization that does not allow relatives of partners to join the firm. It has an early mandatory retirement policy and places great emphasis on promoting diversity, with women making up 30% of the partnership.

Since 2023, FERRERE is one of the first companies to receive the Uruguay country brand license (granted by Uruguay XXI and LSQA), after going through a process that certifies compliance with four values: origin, sustainability, leadership and management, and export capacity.

Clients and international publications acknowledge its experience and leadership, and each year it receives recognitions and awards from the chief international professional services raters. Premier regional and international companies, as well as global law firms, take advantage of the firm’s regional footprint to complete their coverage of the region.

In 1977 Daniel Ferrere got back to Uruguay from Harvard with the conviction, contrary to the reality and the consensus of the time, that it was possible to create a US-style law firm where client service and a focus on practical solutions would be the goal. In 1994 FERRERE added a family hiring exclusion to its partnership agreement, and in 1996 it had its first woman partner.

In line with our founder’s vision, the firm very soon created highly specialized practice groups, with a strong vocation to providing legal counsel while incorporating the strategic perspective of each client’s business. In 1996 FERRERE won the National Quality Award, an unprecedented achievement for a professional services firm.

FERRERE grew based on Daniel Ferrere’s leadership and on a series of decisions that continued to be perceived as risky. In 2003, when the regional firm concept was an eccentricity in Latin America, the firm opened its office in Paraguay, followed by Bolivia in 2004, thereby becoming one of the largest firms in Latin America.
