Verónica Franco is a partner at the Paraguay office in Asunción and specializes in complex corporate and financial transactions and competition law.
She has been principally involved in matters related to foreign investment and the launching of new products, mergers and acquisitions, anticompetitive practices and merger control, project finance, joint ventures, commercial and distribution agreements, bilateral and syndicated loans, as well as securities issuance in the local and international capital markets. Verónica advised financial institutions such as Citibank N.A., Bank of America, JP Morgan, Deutsche Bank, Credit Suisse and the Interamerican Development Bank as well as corporations such as Unilever, Syngenta Elkem, Saint Gobain, and Facebook.
She has experience advising sovereigns, multilaterals and public and private companies, including digital platforms and new technologies.
She is admitted to practice law in Paraguay and in the State of New York. Between 2015 and 2017 she was an international lawyer at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP, where she had substantial exposure to high-profile cross-border corporate and financial transactions across Latin America.
In addition, she also regularly teaches at postgraduate level in corporate and competition law in Paraguay.
