He has broad expertise with corporate clients, in large-scale deals with the public sector and state-owned companies, joint ventures, commercial contracts, project finance and in mergers and acquisitions transactions.
In energy matters, he represents developers, operators, financial institutions and multinational companies in a wide range of projects and industries such as Renewable Energy, Energy Transition, Oil & Gas, Construction and Infrastructure.
His work includes the intervention in transactions, contracts and business agreements involving major international corporations and large local companies, as well as the Uruguayan State. He has particular expertise in public tenders, in project finance with multilateral credit institutions, export credit agencies and international commercial banks, in the acquisition of companies in the energy and infrastructure sectors, advising investment funds, private equity firms and institutional investors in all aspects of the development, financing or acquisition of energy and infrastructure.
Gonzalo is consistently recognized as a leading lawyer in international publications; he was the first Uruguayan lawyer ranked in Band 1 in Chambers Latin America in the Energy and Natural Resources sector and is recognized as a Leading Lawyer by Legal 500.
Gonzalo is a lawyer graduated from the Universidad de la República and completed postgraduate studies at the Center for American and International Law (Dallas, Texas USA).
