Gonzalo Secco is a partner in the Montevideo office of Ferrere. He is the practice group leader of the firm’s energy and infrastructure group. His practice focuses on the representation of developers, operators, financial institutions and multinational companies in a wide range of power, renewable energy, oil and gas and infrastructure-related projects. He has particular expertise in project finance with multilateral organizations, export credit agencies and commercial banks, in M&A transactions in the energy and infrastructure sectors, and advising infrastructure and energy funds, private equity firms and institutional investors in all aspects relating to the development, financing or acquisition of energy and infrastructure projects.
Gonzalo is consistently recognized as a leading lawyer by Chambers Latin America, Legal 500, IFLR 1000 and similar publications covering Latin America in areas such as Corporate/M&A, Energy and infrastructure, Project Development and Project Finance.
Recent publications include the Uruguayan Chapter of the Global Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Guide and the Global Renewable Energy Guide published annually by Cakmak Publishing, Bankability Clauses in the Financing of Projects (Project Finance), published by Revista Crítica de Derecho Privado, La Ley Uruguay and a contribution to the World Bank Group initiative Procuring Infrastructure PPPs (Uruguay chapter) that presents cross-comparative indicators on key characteristics of Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) globally.
