Once again, FERRERE has garnered various nominations for the IFLR Americas Awards 2023, organized by the International Financial Law Review (IFLR), a publication specializing in research on firms and lawyers who are experts in financial and corporate matters.

FERRERE is nominated for Firm of the Year in Paraguay and Uruguay, with the possibility of winning the award again in both countries, as in the 2021 edition; in the case of Uruguay, it has been the winner for the last three years.

Additionally, FERRERE has been shortlisted for the Deals of the Year awards.

In the Private Equity category, FERRERE is nominated for having advised the British risk capital group Actis on the sale of Atlas, the platform handling operation and maintenance of renewable energy projects and assets across the region, with 14 projects in Mexico, Brazil, Chile and Uruguay. In Uruguay, particularly, Actis had two solar projects with an aggregate capacity of 70MW, in operation since 2018. FERRERE was in charge of preparing the suppliers due diligence for the competitive process, which took place from mid-2021 until the first quarter of 2022. Additionally, FERRERE provided advice on local law issues in the negotiations, the share purchase agreements, and closing of the transaction. In this deal the FERRERE team was led by the partner Gonzalo Secco and included a broad team of practitioners: Isabel Hounie, Enrique Slekis, María Victoria Costa, Agustina Pérez, Federico Rodríguez and Ana Laura Oliveros.

In turn, in the Debt and Equity-Linked category, FERRERE has been shortlisted for its advice to IDB Invest on the structuring of the biggest B bond in its history, in the financing for the Central Railway project, intended to improve connectivity between Montevideo and the country’s interior. The financing consists of a senior line of credit for USD 250 million, through a fixed-rate B bond. The amount will be used to refinance the project’s existing debt, improving the general financing terms and conditions for the work. The FERRERE team participating in the deal was led by the partner Sebastian Ramos Olano, along with a broad team of practitioners: Gonzalo Secco, María Eugenia Gitto, Lucía Rosso and Victoria Costa.

The results will be announced in a ceremony to be held in New York on May 18.
