His practice focuses on project development, commercial, and transactional matters. His experience covers a wide range of commercial transactions, including construction contracts (EPC, EPCM, BOO, DBO, civil construction - unit prices, turnkey, etc.), engineering consultancy, supply of industrial machinery (EPS), long-term supply, sale and purchase of industrial assets, M&A transactions, share purchase agreements, shareholders agreements, financing transactions, spin-offs, international distribution, franchising, among others. As a complement to his transactional experience, Luis Marcio has experience in competition (antitrust) matters and international arbitration. Additional representative matters include the negotiation of a framework for the protection of international investments under local Paraguayan laws and reviews of power purchase agreements with a local government owned utility (ANDE).
Luis Marcio has extensive experience assisting pulp industry sponsors and has worked on secondment for the largest private investment project in Paraguay's history, representing clients and negotiating all types of contracts, including EPC, EPCM, EPS, supply of inputs (wood, oxygen, chemicals, heavy oils), plant operation and maintenance (O&M), engineering consulting, supply of services, and others. His experience in private projects includes negotiating with lenders, independent engineers and insurance advisors, and working closely with procurement teams to design packages to be tendered, drafting general terms and conditions, and structuring major project purchases.
Before joining Ferrere he worked with the Washington, DC, office of BakerHostetler, the Santiago (Chile) office of Philippi Prietocarrizosa Ferrero DU & Uría, and on secondment for a forestry and pulp project in Paraguay, along with another corporate firm in Asunción.
