Paraguayan Government to call for a tender for paving and maintenance for a section from the Supercarretera to Puerto Indio for an estimated amount of USD 62 million

The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (the “MOPC”) launched the bidding for the paving and maintenance works of a section of the route PY 07 (the “Project”). The Project includes more than 60 km, starting from route PY 07 to Puerto Indio, Alto Paraná.

This Project is open to both national and foreign bidders, either individually or jointly (consortium), with domicile in the Republic of Paraguay or abroad.

1. Financing

The approximate cost of the Project is USD. 62.000.000, which will be financed with a loan. Currently, a bill is under study that addresses said loan, which will be granted by the Andean Development Corporation for an amount of up to USD. 100.000.000.

The Paraguayan Government determined that the Project will be carried out in two lots. In addition, the awarding system of the Project was divided by lot. Therefore, the bidder may not be awarded both lots, but rather one of them.

Both lots 1 and 2 are for the final engineering design, construction and maintenance services for an asphalt paving work. On the one hand, lot 1 starts at km 0 and covers up to km 27. On the other hand, lot 2 starts at km 27 and covers up to km 60.3. The estimated price for each lot is USD. 31.000.000.

3. Works

The Project works corresponding to lots 1 and 2 will have the following characteristics:

• The Project also includes works such as soil movement, construction of the structural package, works of art, drainage, and construction of bridges.
• For the asphalt paving work, the Project foresees a 12.00 m wide platform.
• In relation to the works of art mentioned above, the Project foresees the construction of bridges, tubular and cellular culverts, lined gutters, longitudinal drainage, among others.
• The execution period of the Project is 95 months for each of the lots. The initial term for the preparation of the executive design is 5 months and the term to complete the construction of the works from the physical start-up order is 30 months. Moreover, the term for maintenance services is 60 months.
