FERRERE was distinguished as one of the region’s 18 leading firms in terms of sustainability and focus on Environment, Social & Governance (ESG) concerns, according to Legal 500, which this year put out its Green Guide for the first time.

According to Legal 500, “ESG concerns are doubtlessly continuing to climb up the corporate agenda in Latin America, and law firms will consequently play an increasingly important role in assisting companies with sustainability goals and business transformation.”

In this connection, FERRERE has prioritized these criteria in working in its three jurisdictions, Bolivia, Paraguay and Uruguay, both when advising its clients -on various leading cases- and within the firm itself.

Among other examples, the firm is an active member and promotes the UN Global Compact initiative in the countries in which it is present, while also adhering to the Green Pledge in the Campaign for Greener Arbitrations, aiming to achieve cultural change in international arbitration through environment-friendly practices, including reduction of the carbon footprint of proceedings.

The FERRERE regional ESG practice, led by Sebastián Ramos and Cristina Vignone (Uruguay), Guillermo Jover (Paraguay) and Diego Villarroel (Bolivia), is comprised by a “multidisciplinary team which assists clients in a variety of industries not only with ESG strategy but also regulatory compliance, and conflict and crisis management,” according to the British publication.
