FERRERE advised Grupo Vázquez, a Paraguayan holding company operating in different sectors, including finance, livestock, food services and entertainment, on the process of obtaining authorization by the local competition regulator for acquisition of a controlling stake (64.07% of corporate capital) in Financiera el Comercio S.A.E.C.A. (“FIELCO”), a financial institution operating in Paraguay since 1976.
As a consequence of the deal, Grupo Vázquez will increase its economic activities by means of an internal reorganization in which FIELCO will absorb Credicentro S.A.E.C.A., the group’s financial unit. Credicentro, although operating in the financial sector, did so in a segment different from FIELCO’s, which resulted in a conglomerate transaction.
The transaction was unconditionally authorized by the local competition regulator on November 2, 2021.
