The National Industrial Property Office (DNPI) will require applicants in Uruguay with filing dates in 2010 and earlier to expressly confirm whether or not they are still interested in the patents in question. A period of 30 days will be fixed in each case for such purpose.

With this measure the DNPI seeks to reduce the number of files awaiting technical examination and decrease the existing backlog, so that human and material resources can be focused on those cases that continue to be of interest to applicants.
