Sofía Rattazzi

Sofía Rattazzi is a member of FERRERE's Environmental and Corporate team in Paraguay.

Her practice focuses on environmental due diligence procedures in the context of mergers and acquisitions of local companies, response to regulatory queries and legal advice.

In her beginnings, she was part of a law firm in the role of assistant in charge of file management and prosecution of lawsuits before various institutions and jurisdictional tribunals.

Before joining FERRERE, Sofía worked at the Treasury Legal Service (2021 - 2023) as a prosecutor, where she was in charge of approximately 800 executive and contentious-administrative lawsuits.

She also worked at the Institute of Environmental Law and Economics "IDEA" (2022 - 2023) where she acquired very valuable experience in the elaboration of legislative projects, public policies and environmental law.

She was awarded her law degree from the National University of Asuncion in 2022. She is currently pursuing a degree in Notary Public and a postgraduate degree in University Didactics at the same university.

New carbon credit law is enacted in Paraguay

On October 12, 2023, the President of the Republic of Paraguay signed and enacted Law 7190/2023, of Carbon Credits. The law provides the country with a specific regulatory framework for the development of projects that generate carbon credits for sale in international carbon markets, whether compliance or voluntary.
