On April 3, 2020, the Paraguayan Securities Exchange Commission (Comisión Nacional de Valores) issued the registration certificate No. 25_03042020, approving the submission of the second Bond Issuance Program (Programa de Emision Global or “PEG”) of the Inter-American Investment Corporation (“IDB Invest”).

Partner Carlos Codas and senior associate Pamela Lezcano assisted IDB Invest to structure and register the second PEG with the Paraguayan Securities Exchange Commission and the Stock Exchange of Asunción. 

The PEG was registered in local currency for a total of Gs. 1,5 billion (USD 235 million approximately), which is the most significant program ever registered in Paraguay.

Under the current economic situation in Paraguay and in the rest of the countries worldwide due to COVID-19 outbreak, the new IDB invests bond program will play a crucial role. It is expected that in the following months, IDB Invest will issue bonds in local currency to finance its clients in Paraguay.

Below are detailed the PEG’s main features:  

  • Currency: Guaranies
  • Rating: AAA (long term), with a stable tendency.
  • Series: issue bonds within one or more series, according to IDB Invest’s needs to finance its clients.
  • Bond minimum nominal value: Gs. 1.000.000.
  • Maturity: between 365 and 7300, to be specified in each series of bonds.
  • Bondholders Fiduciary: CADIEM Casa de Bolsa S.A
