According to the Corruption Perceptions Index 2022, prepared by the NGO Transparency International, Uruguay moved up one point with respect to the previous year, consolidating its leadership position in the region. Since its creation, the Corruption Perceptions Index has been the chief world indicator of corruption in the public sector.
In the 2022 Index Uruguay receives a total score of 74 out of 100, where zero means “highly corrupt” and 100 means “very transparent.”
