FERRERE’s Corporate team in Paraguay, headed up by partner Nestor Loizaga, advised Grupo Chagra, who, together with Shih Jung Chang, announced an investment of USD 35 million for construction of the Los Lazos S.A. meatpacking plant. Official announcement of the agreement took place in the context of a meeting with the President of Paraguay, Mario Abdo Benítez.

The industrial plant will be built on a 14-hectare plot in the Presidente Hayes district of the Chaco Paraguayo region. Planned capacity is approximately 100,000 head of cattle per year, and the facility will take on more than 350 permanent workers.

The work, under the highest quality standards for accessing international markets, is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2023, and the plant is set to be operative as of October 2024. The Los Lazos facility will be equipped to meet kosher and halal dietary rules.

FERRERE’s work, led by Loizaga, included structuring of the joint venture, as well as the supplemental agreements for implementing the project in Paraguay.
