FERRERE advised Brookfield Renewable Partners, a canadian renewable power company, on the sale of three renewable electrical power plants in Uruguay, representing 121 MW of installed power.

The deal included two wind farms (Carapé I and Carapé II) for a total 95 MW of power in Maldonado, and a 26 MW solar photovoltaic plant (Alto Cielo) in Artigas. The three projects had power purchase agreements (PPAs) with the state-owned electric utility UTE for combined power of 110 MW.

With this acquisition the buyer, Cubico Sustainable Investments, has upped its operations in Uruguay to 320 MW installed capacity, in a sector that has shown marked growth in recent decades in the country, given its project for transformation of its energy matrix to renewables.

The FERRERE team that advised Brookfield was led by Manuel Lecuona, with the significant participation of Enrique Slekis, Alejandro Alterwain, Lucia Lingeri and Ignacio Uria.
