A large team in FERRERE Uruguay advised the Brazilian bank Itaú on the acquisition of stakes in two local fintechs: Prex and Paigo. While the former is active in the payment services sector, with a presence in Uruguay, Argentina and Peru, the latter is a leader in the consumer credit sector in Uruguay.
FERRERE was responsible for carrying out the legal due diligence process for the Uruguayan companies, while coordinating that process for other law firms in the other jurisdictions involved.
The agreement, signed in March, is pending approval by regulators.
FERRERE's advice was led by partner Geraldine Ifrán, and it included a big team of professionals: Martín Pesce, Alejandro Alterwain, Alejandra García, Federico Lemos, Walter Planells, Cecilia Alberti, María Eugenia Contreras and María Victoria Costa.
