With a view to facilitating identification of investment opportunities in Ecuador, since 2011 the Ministry for Coordination of Strategic Sectors has published its Catalogue of Strategic Sector Investments, identifying projects that require investment and that will be afforded benefits. The latest catalogue is for the 2015-2017 period.
This document announces projects requiring direct private investment as well as others for public-private strategic alliances. The catalogue contains projects in the following sectors: (i) basic industries, for example, metal refining plants, petrochemical plants, shipbuilders, etc., (ii) public and private mining ventures; (iii) mining blocks for auction; (iv) oil industry; (v) bioenergy, including hydroelectric and geothermal projects; and (viii) telecommunications.
