Paraguay’s Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) will be holding a tender this semester for works valued at USD 2.46 billion, to be performed over the next four years. The Highways Office will be making calls for bids for USD 875.56 million, the Community Roads Office for USD 71.18 million, and the Strategic Projects Office for USD 1.509 billion. The works will be awarded under public-private partnership (PPP) and Law 5074/13, which provides a sovereign guarantee for projects with own-financing by bidders.

The new projects include the Pilar port access and beltway, construction of the Alberdi - Villa Franca - Pilar roadway segment, rehabilitation and maintenance of the Acceso Sur - San Juan Bautista intersection, on route No. 9 - Semidei - Madame Lynch - Defensores del Chaco - Petropar, on the Concepción - Pozo Colorado route, and various other works under the administration of the Highways and Community Roads offices. Also in the project pipeline is the concession for the Asunción international airport, dredging of the riverway tranche passing through Paraguay, and improvement of power distribution by operating leasing.
