Melanie works in commercial and investment-related matters. She has participated in cases regarding gas distribution business, construction conglomerates and mining, among others, which were administered by the ICC, ICSID, UNCITRAL and the Arbitration Center of the Uruguayan Chamber of Commerce.
She was a member of the team that participated in an investment-related case, administered by the PCA under the UNCITRAL rules, which was initiated by the owners of a mining project, which was one biggest planned investment in Uruguay.
Melanie is an assistant professor at the Contract Law course of the University of the Montevideo. She is part of the International Arbitration team of the University of Montevideo. She represented the University in the Latin American Commercial Arbitration Moot in 2017, in the Foreign Direct Investment International Arbitration Moot in 2018 and 2019 and in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in 2018 and 2020. Additionally, she represented the University of Montevideo in the XV Inter-University Constitutional and Human Rights Seminar.
In the context of community activities, she participates as tutor in the Liceo Jubilar secondary school tutorship program since 2017.
