Marcelo Marchetti has been a member of FERRERE since 2011 and is currently part of the firm’s Tax team. Previously, as part of FERRERE’s internal training program, he participated on various practice teams: Mergers and Acquisitions, Project Finance, Intellectual Property and Personal Data.
He participated actively in various legal actions that have become leading cases in tax matters, including actions for Government liability against the Legislature in defense of the forestry industry.
He has also participated in high-profile tax litigation, such as an action for unconstitutionality of the notional dividends regulations brought before the Supreme Court of Justice and an action for nullity of digital market cross-border income regulations brought before the Administrative Claims Court.
In addition to his extensive practice in tax disputes, he is particularly noted for preparation of complex reports and is regularly involved in tax planning for a variety of local and foreign companies, including Sequoia’s first private equity in Latin America. He was previously engaged in the implementation of Uruguay’s first digital system for VAT reimbursement to tourists (Tax Free Shopping).
He teaches the fiscal and regulatory framework course at Universidad ORT (Uruguay) and has published numerous research papers in his specialty.
