Joaquín Garino is a member of the FERRERE Banking and Finance team. He advises local and foreign clients on financial system and securities market matters.
Previously, for two years, he was a member of the FERRERE Litigation and Arbitration team, where his practice focused on complex dispute resolution, primarily in domestic and international arbitrations. As part of this team he participated in proceedings conducted in English and in Spanish, under different arbitral rules.
He is an instructor of Private International Law at Universidad de la República (Uruguay), where he teaches on the team of professor Cecilia Fresnedo de Aguirre.
From 2016 to 2018 he was a member of the international arbitration team of Universidad de la República. As speaker for the team, he was a finalist in the 4th International Investment Arbitration Competition; he was awarded first mention as best individual speaker at the 10th International Arbitration Competition; and received recognition from the Conciliation and Arbitration Center of the Mercosur International Arbitration Court. He is currently trainer for the team.
In the context of community activities, he is a tutor in the tutorship program for students at the Liceo Jubilar high school.
