Gerardo Villagómez is a partner in FERRERE’s offices in Bolivia. He is a specialist in corporate, regulatory, civil, commercial, labor, cooperative law, litigation and arbitration matters.

His professional practice covers inter- and intra-corporate relations, application of corporate good governance rules, handling of subsidiaries, mergers and acquisitions, due diligences, company winding-ups and liquidations. He has also been involved in labor dispute settlements, conciliations, labor arbitration, and complex negotiations in the context of company reorganizations.

He has broad experience in telecommunications, has participated in structuring transactions and strategic investment projects for transportation network construction, implementation of wireless systems for voice and data, and other services, with CAF, Banco Bilbao Vizcaya, Moodys, Fitch Ratings, Huawei, Hansa, AXS, Star One (a subsidiary of the Embratel group), and the Israeli firms of Alvarion and Gilat, among others.

In parallel, he has provided advice on litigation, commercial arbitration, tenders, and specific telecom service licenses and permits, general administrative processes, and has served member, on behalf of the Federation of Telecommunications Cooperatives of Bolivia (FECOTEL), on working committees fostered by the Ministry of Public Works, Services and Housing and the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security of Bolivia, to discuss bills of law and general regulations -currently in effect- for the cooperative and telecommunications sectors.

Before joining FERRERE, Villagómez worked for over ten years as Senior Management Advisor, General Secretary and member of the management team of COTAS, a global telecommunications operator with a strong regional presence in Santa Cruz. At COTAS he participated in highly complex cases and strategic negotiations, with companies like Telecom Italia, Telefónica, Cisco, HBO, government corporation Entel, and Nuevatel (VIVA), a subsidiary of Trilogy International Partners LLC.
