Alejandro Pemintel is a partner at Ferrere’s Bolivia offices. His practice is focused on energy, mining and natural resources, with an emphasis on labor law matters, providing litigation and regulatory advice.
His experience in employment matters includes advising on all issues resulting from labor relations, including the design and implementation of hiring policies, advice on the implications of corporate restructurings and liquidations, and representing clients in conciliations and arbitrations with unions. He also has extensive experience in planning, designing and implementing activities aimed at the efficient resolution of labor disputes, which have allowed him to participate in complex labor negotiations on behalf of domestic and foreign companies operating in the mining, hydrocarbons, telecommunications, construction and services industries.
His experience and knowledge of employment relations and the applicable labor laws have allowed him to advise big telecommunications companies, such as the leader AXS and the cooperatives COMTECO y COTAS; some of the biggest mining firms of the country, such as Sinchi Wayra, Glencore Xstrata subsidiary; Empresa Minera Paitití, the Canadian Orvana Minerals Corporation’s subsidiary, and Inti Raymi. In other areas, he has advised Cervecera Cordillera, part of SABMiller plc, the second largest brewery in the world and Pacific Rim Energy, an industrial projects development company.
Parallely, Alejandro advises large energy companies, such as Repsol; the Larcos Group, specialized in engineering and project implementation; the construction company ECLA; and Colquiri Mining and others, on litigation, arbitration and administrative procedures.
He is the author of several articles discussing labor issues and has been a speaker at various workshops on labor reforms to be implemented in Bolivia.
